Best Buy Store Credit Vs Gift Card =LINK=

It has been very disappointing to many people to learn that Best Buy store credit or rewards cannot be used to buy gift cards. This is because the store credit and rewards are intended to be used for purchases made in-store, not for gift card purchases. Some people have been frustrated with this policy and have shown this on social media. This also caused many people to no longer do business with Best Buy, while others continued to shop at the store but many have not used their store credit or rewards.

Best Buy is a retail store that offers electronics, appliances, entertainment, and more. They provide credit as a rewards card. You can use this card to purchase items at Best Buy or use it as a form of payment for services at the store. The rewards program allows you to accumulate points for every dollar you spend at Best Buy. You can then redeem these points for discounts on future purchases or special products and services. There are also occasional bonus opportunities where you can earn even more points. Overall, this store credit thing has been quite popular and arguably has been one of the reasons behind the growth of the company.

I found this out because I usually redeem rewards points at my work for Best Buy gift cards (only good thing they have available to me). Back in January 2020, I was able to purchase eShop credit with a BB gift card. I just tried a few days ago, and it automatically cancelled my order online, multiple times. Spoke with customer service, and indeed, Best Buy gift cards cannot be used to purchase ANY gift cards. Also shows in the gift card terms now. The rep insisted that this has been a policy for a while, so either they weren't enforcing it with online purchases a year ago or she was lying to me

So in case anyone is trying to buy eShop credit with a BB card and their transaction is being cancelled, this is why. I wonder if gift card fraud increased in 2020... Anyway, hopefully this helps a few people if they received BB gift cards in some form and intend to use them for eShop credit.

There are two basic versions of the Best Buy Citi Credit Card. One is a "closed-loop" store card, meaning it's accepted only at Best Buy and BestBuy.com. The other card is an "open-loop" credit card, meaning it is accepted anywhere that takes Visa.

The My Best Buy card should not be confused with the My Best Buy Visa Card. This closed-loop, out-of-network card may only be used at Best Buy stores, on bestbuy.com or on the Best Buy mobile app, though the headlining features of the card are similar to its in-network Visa counterpart.

Reward certificates may be used at Best Buy retail stores, BestBuy.com and the Best Buy mobile app, but some products, like gift cards, certain premium major home appliances and home theater products, sales tax, service charges and discounted Best Buy Business or commercial purchases or anything purchased from a non-participating store or a Best Buy Store via third-party marketplace like Amazon, Google or eBay do not qualify.

The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa offers much more latitude in terms of reward earning and much more clarity in terms of financing. Like the My Best Buy Card, Amazon Prime Rewards Visa offers a choice of rewards or financing. Cardholders who choose rewards earn 5% cash back in rewards at Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market with an eligible Prime membership, 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations and drugstores and 1% on all other purchases. Get 10% back or more in bonus rewards on rotating categories and products sold on Amazon.com. This card does not offer traditional 0% introductory APR periods, however, cardholders may be eligible to choose a 0% APR period where they make equal monthly payments ranging from 6 to 18 months on qualifying purchases of $50 or more, after that a variable APR of 18.74% to 26.74% applies. A balance transfer fee of either $5 or 4% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater, applies.

Gift cards are essentially cash, bought by the customer and are bound by state rules. Gift cards legally different from loyalty cards and store credit because they are considered a payment method in all senses, meaning that unlike store credit, stores cannot apply rules of their own to their Gift Cards.

If you're debating whether an Amazon Prime membership is worth the money, this card could help you decide: As a welcome bonus, cardholders can get a $100 Amazon.com gift card that offsets the $139 annual membership your first year.

That said, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card doesn't have the most competitive welcome bonus, and you can do better than 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drugstores with other rewards cards if those are big spending areas for you.

Who's this for? If you don't have an Amazon Prime membership but still frequently use the website to shop, another option is the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card. This credit card does not require a Prime membership and still offers 3% back at Amazon and Whole Foods, along with the 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drugstores.

New cardholders get a $50 Amazon gift card once their application is approved. Cardholders can also benefit from no foreign transaction fees and select travel benefits, such as travel accident insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver and lost luggage reimbursement.

With this card, you can earn 5% back on Amazon.com purchases but, unlike with the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card and Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, you do not earn cash back at Whole Foods, restaurants, gas stations, drugstores or any other purchase.

Some retailers offer both. Amazon.com, for example, has a store card and the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card. The former only works at Amazon.com, whereas the latter can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

If you have a store card or a co-branded card, your rewards will probably focus on perks offered by that individual retailer. These tend to focus on cash back, either as statement credits or as funds you can apply to offset future purchases.

But a store card may still be the right choice for you if you know you can pay your bill in full each month. It also helps if you have at least one other general-purpose or co-branded card to cover other expenses and benefit from credit card perks such as fraud protection, no foreign transaction fees, extended warranty coverage and purchase protection.

This is not limited to merchandise purchases as some people suspect. Guests can uses gift cards to purchase Disney Theme Park tickets, meals in Disney Theme Parks, and Stays at Disney Resort Hotels.

It looks as if shoppers can now purchase 2 gift cards per person by buying one at the time through separate transactions. I tried it a few minutes ago with success. I was cut off after 2 saying my limited had been reached after that.

Scammers favor gift cards because they are easy for people to find and buy, and they have fewer protections for buyers compared to some other payment options. Scammers can get quick cash, the transaction is largely irreversible, and they can remain anonymous.

Scammers also tell people where to buy the gift cards. In the first nine months of 2021, people who reported losing money buying gift cards mentioned Target stores more than other retailers. Reports suggest that Walmart, Best Buy, CVS, and Walgreens stores are also popular with scammers.

3 From January 2021 through September 2021, 39,263 reports indicating $147.8 million in gift card and reload card payments were submitted, compared to 36,682 reports indicating $115.1 million in reported gift card payments in all of 2020. Earlier year figures for comparison purposes are as follows: 35,323 reports with $100 million reported lost (2019), 32,084 reports with $70.6 million reported lost (2018).

5 From January 2021 through September 2021, 12,239 people reported losing $35.5 million to business impersonators using gift cards, and 7,844 people reported losing $39.6 million to government impersonators using gift cards. Excluding reports that did not indicate a contact method, a phone call was the method of contact in 37% of reports indicating gift cards as the method of payment, followed by email (18%) and social media (16%).

7 The median individual reported losses from January 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021 by gift card brand are as follows: Target ($2,500), Walmart ($1,380), Apple ($800), eBay ($600), and Google Play ($500). Median individual losses are based on the total loss reported by the consumer, which often includes more than one gift card purchase.

8 The percentage of reports from January 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021 indicating a loss of $5,000 or more by gift card brand are as follows: Target (30%), Apple (13%), Walmart (12%), Google Play (6%), and eBay (3%). Of the $148 million reported lost to gift card scams during this period, $111 million were losses reported by people who reported a loss of $5,000 or more.

However, this limits your rewards to only those made at Best Buy stores. Other credit cards allow you to redeem as a statement credit toward any purchase, or even for cash and gift cards with other retailers.

The store card carries a high APR, for purchases that are eligible for the 48-month reduced rate plan. This card has no fees except for a late payment fee and returned payment fee, each $39. It can only be used when shopping in Best Buy.

**Target GiftCards are solely for use at Target stores and on Target.com. Target GiftCards cannot be used to purchase any prepaid or specialty gift cards. If someone claims that you should pay them in Target GiftCards, please report it at ftccomplaintassistant.gov. ***Restrictions apply. RedCard 5% savings excludes: Target GiftCards, Stockpile & Gift of College cards; Visa, Mastercard, American Express Prepaid & gift cards.

Best Buy notes that the method of refund will be in the same method the payment was originally made, in most cases. It also lists some specifics, such as what happens if a person paid more than $800 in cash or more than $250 by check, and how gift card balance refunds will be issued: 041b061a72
